Griffin releases wireless sound system for iPod

by Jim Dalrymple, MacCentral

iPod accessory-maker Griffin Technology has released the Evolve Wireless Sound System for iPod. First shown at Macworld Expo San Francisco earlier this year, Griffin said the system costs $299.99 from Best Buy or $349 from the Web site.

The iPod sits on a base and plays music like you would expect. However, the speakers are detachable and can be placed up to a 150 feet away from the base. The speakers need no power outlets and last up to 10 hours on a single charge, according to Griffin.

When the speakers run out of power they can be reattached to the base and charged again.

Update clarified pricing information for Best Buy. 2:59 pm ET.
