Do you make my name available to other companies?

From time to time we make our subscribers' names available to other reputable companies whose products or services we feel may interest you. Many of our subscribers find this is a valuable and timesaving service. If, however, you do not wish to have your name made available, just send us an email (subhelp@macworld.com) with this request.

If you would like to reduce the amount of unsolicited mail or telemarketing calls you receive, you can have your name and address added to the Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service and/or Telephone Preference Service. Just write to the following addresses. Make sure you include your name and address as well as any different spellings or presentations of your name that could be on a mailing list. Include area code and telephone number for the Telephone Preference Service only.

Back to questions

Will it cost me anything to switch to the digital edition?

No, there is no additional cost for the change. If you are a current subscriber you will have full access to all of the digital editions for the remainder of your subscription. You will receive one digital issue for each print issue that is still to be fulfilled on your original subscription.

Back to questions

How do I continue my subscription with a digital edition?

Please contact Macworld customer service at subhelp@macworld.com if you did not activate your subscription prior to November 15, 2014. If you have already activated your digital subscription, you will receive an email letting you know when the next issue is available for download. To activate your subscription, go to Macworld.com/activate and enter your account number and zip code.

Back to questions

How do I get my digital issues?

To view the Enhanced iPad Edition you must download the Macworld app in the App Store. To view the Replica edition you will need to download the Zinio Reader app and then create an account with Zinio. You will be notified via email as each new issue is available. Go to macworld.com/directions for instructions on on how to download your issues on each individual device.

Back to questions

Do I need to be connected to the internet to read my digital issues?
If you are reading Macworld through the Enhanced iPad Edition or the Replica edition with the Zinio Reader app, then no; you only need to be connected when you download your issues. For best results when downloading your issues, we recommend that you have broadband connection to the Internet. Dial-up users should have at least a 56K modem.

You can also access the Replica edition through the Zinio website, but you must be connected to the internet to do so.

Back to questions

How do I use bookmarks in the magazine?

If you would like to bookmark a page, simply tap on the upper right-hand corner of the page you wish to bookmark. All the bookmarks that you have set for an issue appear in the Bookmarks button on the navigation bar. The bar appears when you tap the magazine page.

Back to questions

All of the text disappeared on the screen. How do I get it back?

Many of the articles have artwork underneath. Double-tapping the text hides the text allowing you to see the underlying image. Double-tapping again brings the text back.

I already have a subscription to the Macworld Digital Edition through Zinio. Can I get those issues in the Macworld Digital Magazine app instead?
No, the subscription processes are different. If you prefer to receive Macworld through the iPad app, you'll need to cancel your existing subscription with Zinio by emailing subhelp@macworld.com. Once you have cancelled you can subscribe to the Macworld Digital All-Access pass, which will entitle you to read Macworld on any device you choose. Click here to subscribe or go to macworld.com/magazines to learn more.

Back to questions

What is the difference between the Macworld Enhanced Edition and the Replica Edition of Macworld?
We've designed the Enhanced Edition to deliver the best possible experience of Macworld magazine, including optimized pages, multimedia, and support for HD Displays. Each issue is specially designed to bring the magazing features to life; we can add additional pictures and video content to the Enhanced Edition that we cannot include in the Replica. The Replica Editions do not offer any interactive features. One advantage of the Replica Editions is that they support pinch and zoom capabilities. Additionally, the Replica Edition supports both landscape and portrait reading.

What do I do if I encounter a problem that isn't mentioned here?

Send an email to Macworld Customer Service at subhelp@macworld.com. Please describe the problem with as many details as possible, and be sure to include the answers to the following questions:

  • Which model iPad are you using?
  • Which version of the app are you using?
  • What iOS version are you using? (You can find out by going to the Settings app on your iPad and selecting the General option and then the About option. Look to Version on that screen to get the version number.)
  • Were other apps running in the background when you first encountered the problem? (To check this, press the iPad's circular Home button twice quickly to reveal your running apps in the multitasking bar at the bottom of the screen.)
  • How strong is your Wi-Fi connection? New magazine issues can't download over a 3G connection.
Please don't contact Macworld for questions or technical support about your iPad itself. Since Apple makes and sells iPads, please contact Apple for support issues about the device or iOS.
