Breaking down the new MacBooks
Apple took a little more than an hour Tuesday to run through all the changes to its laptop line. In this special edition of the Macworld video, we break down all of Apple’s announcements in a little more than three minutes.
I talk about all the news coming out of Tuesday's press event—the updates to the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air lines as well as the newly introduced LED Cinema Display. And we’ve got pictures from the event, too.

Favorite Firefox extensions
One of the big advantages Firefox 3 holds over Safari is extensibility. Savvy users can customize the browser to look, feel and perform in any number of ways. Our earlier review said “Firefox 3 is an improvement on its useful but somewhat clunky predecessor in nearly every respect.”
In this week's Macworld Video, Rob Griffiths show you how to use extensions to extend the power of Firefox 3, all for no cost and with only a little bit of work.
He'll show you how to install extensions, where to find them, and then look at three of his favorites.
Hands on with the Kodak Zi6
The small digital camera found in pockets and purses across the globe may soon have a companion—the pocket digital camcorder. These diminutive moving-picture makers produce quality good enough for casual viewing and YouTube and cost less than $200.
Several weeks ago I took a look at Pure Digital’s Flip Ultra pocket camcorder and pronounced it good. But that was then and this is now and while I still believe the Flip Ultra is a good camcorder, my current favorite, the Kodak Zi6, is better. At $180 it costs the same as the Flip Mino yet, unlike the Ultra or Mino, can shoot in 720p HD, uses removable batteries, and carries an SD memory slot, allowing you to store up to 32GB of content.
In this episode of the Macworld Video I take you on a short tour of that camera.
First Look: Intellitouch Eos wireless iPod speakers
All the recent talk about the new iPods serves as a reminder that the iPod has become the center of your digital media universe. And one of the ways to get the most from your iPod is to use an iPod speaker stand, so you can blast your room with your music.
But what if you want to blast your whole house with music? You can you a remote speaker system, like Intellitouch’s Eos wireless iPod speakers. The Eos uses a proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless technology to stream audio from your iPod to a remote speaker in a separate room.
In this Macworld video, I take a first look at the Eos system. I’ll set up the Eos, place a speaker in a separate room, and check to see if it works. I’ll also talk (and overuse the word "pretty") about the sound quality.
iPod accessibility
Reviewing Apple’s newly revamped iPod line got me thinking about how much the iPod has changed since Apple introduced its first portable music player seven years ago. But one area that hasn’t changed all that much has been accessibility—features that help vision-impaired users, for example, get the most out of their iPod.
I should say that accessibility hasn’t changed much until now—the new version of iTunes 8 significantly improves its accessibility features, and similar improvements also find their way into the iPod nano. In this Macworld video, I demonstrate the accessibility features of the fourth-generation iPod nano, and talk about their limitations, as well.

Underwater photography on the cheap
In the prior installment of the Macworld Video, Chris Breen offered up a number of suggestions on how to share your movies and photos with friends. Working backwards, as I often do, I thought I'd offer up some suggestions on how to get your images ready for sharing.
But not just any images—underwater images in particular.
That's right; this week's focus is on underwater images—a bit of a primer on how to get into underwater photography on the cheap (because that's the only way I can do it!).
What to do with your summer pics
As Labor Day arrives, the really good part of summer departs. And when it leaves, it leaves you with a camera and camcorder stuffed with memories. Sure, you may get as far as dropping those memories into iPhoto and iMovie, but what then?
“What then?” is exactly the purpose of this week’s Macworld Video: Sharing your summer images and movies with the rest of the world.
In the course of the video I reveal a couple of substitutes for iCards—Apple’s electronic greeting cards that have vanished with the oncoming of MobileMe. I suggest one way to backup the backups of your content. And I tell you where you can share your visual summer memories with your friends, family, and the public at large.
First Look: Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser mouse
Earlier this week, Logitech released the MX 1100 Cordless Laser mouse. This $80 mouse for righties uses the 2.4GHz wireless spectrum, and has six buttons, a quick-change tracking button, and a scroll wheel.
In this week’s Macworld Video, I take a first look at the MX 1100 mouse. I’ll have a detailed review in the upcoming weeks.

Monitor triple play
You don't need me to rattle off the benefits of working with multiple displays. (I mean, other than the fact that you get more screen real estate and can work more productively.)
But what if your machine is one that doesn't offer built-in support for multiple displays—like, say, a Mac mini?
You can turn to an external solution such as the TripleHead2Go. This box from Matrox supports up to three monitors; I'll give you a first look at it in this week's Macworld Video.
