Proteus 1.5 out; instant messaging client for OS X

Alien Technology has released a new version of Proteus, its multi-service instant messaging client for Mac OS X. The new version, Proteus 1.5, is ready for download from the Web site.

With Proteus, Mac OS X users can have a single OS X-native client application to communicate with other users via instant messaging services including AIM, ICQ, MSN, Jabber and Yahoo! Chat.

Changes in Proteus 1.5 include the ability to relay messages between contacts, support for multi-recipient messages, animated login, account structure, multiple logins per service, a new main window, improved auto updating and more.

Proteus 1.5 is offered as freeware, although the developer welcomes donations via PayPal. Proteus requires a Mac running Mac OS X 10.1 or higher, and an active account with AIM, ICQ, Jabber, MSN or Yahoo! Messenger.
