Sibelius 2 demo available; music notation software

If you're a composer and you want to use your Mac to create music, you may be interested by music notation software but put off by the price without having a chance to try it first. If that's the case, Sibelius Software Ltd. has given you an incentive to check out their software. The company today announced the release of a Mac demo version of Sibelius 2, its music notation software for Mac and Windows.

Sibelius 2 is a major upgrade to the music notation software that's billed as the best selling in the world for Mac and Windows. The new version of Sibelius is faster and easier to use, according to the developer, and now sports a time-saving Arrange feature. New colors and graphics adorn the software, and new tools include rulers, hidden objects and time code. You can let people print and save music from your Web site, and Sibelius has undergone a user interface overhaul. It's also Mac OS X compatible.

Even though Sibelius 2 is available for both Mac OS and Windows, up until now the demo has been Windows-only.

Sibelius 2 requires a G3 or G4-equipped system; Mac OS 8.6 or later/Mac OS X 10.1 or later; CD-ROM; 80MB HD space; some features also require printer, MIDI keyboard, Internet access, and a TWAIN-compliant scanner.
