Freedom Force is a role-playing strategy game in which you control a squad of comic book heroes who must defend Patriot City against the machinations of Lord Dominion and his hordes of evildoers powered by a mysterious catalyst called Energy X. The game was originally developed by Irrational Games and published for the PC by Crave Entertainment; MacPlay brought it to the Mac with the help of The Omni Group.
MacPlay president Mark Cottam noted that the clean design of the NDL graphic engine has enabled MacPlay's team to create a game quickly and efficiently with fantastic results.
Freedom Force's conversion to the Macintosh paves the way for other NDL games to come to the Mac. NDL-based titles include Mythic Entertainment's Dark Age of Camelot, Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Totally Games' Star Trek Bridge Commander. (It's important to note, however, that no other announcements regarding the possibility of these games' Mac conversion has been made at this time.
