Ergonis Software has released PopChar X 2.0, a new version of their keyboard mapping software. With PopChar X installed, you can find unusual or rarely used characters without having to remember complex keyboard chords.

Automatic font detection has returned with this release of PopChar X. The feature existed before, in the Mac OS 9-only PopChar Pro software, but technical constraints prevented Ergonis from reactivating this feature before now. Localization has also been prepared; PopChar X 2.0 is available in English and German, and Ergonis reports that other languages are coming too. Other new features and changes have been made.

Ergonis recommends PopChar X 2.0 for all users of early versions of the software. It's a free update for all previous versions of PopChar X -- a single user license costs US$29.
