Mac game publisher Aspyr Media on Monday offered some details about its plan to publish the Mac version of Medal of Honor: Spearhead. It's the official expansion pack for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Aspyr's enormously popular World War II-era action game.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is a full-on 3D first person shooter based around the same core graphics technology that powers other popular FPS games like Quake III Arena. The game puts players in Europe during World War II as they participate in missions based on real events. Medal of Honor: Spearhead takes the game a step further: It puts you in the role of Sgt. Jack Barnes in the final months of World War II, starting with Operation Overlord, leading to the Battle of the Bulge and ending with the fall of Berlin.
The add-on, which requires the original Medal of Honor to work, sports nine new single-player levels and more than 12 new multiplayer levels, including spots like Arnhem Bridge and the streets of Berlin. What's more, Spearhead populates the games with new soldier models like British and Soviet squads, new weapons like the Sten submachine gun and smoke grenades, and even new multiplayer and team objective-based gameplay.
System requirements for Medal of Honor: Spearhead are identical to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault -- you'll need Mac OS 9.0 or later, or Mac OS X 10.1 or later, a G3/450MHz or faster, 128MB RAM (256MB for OS X) and ATI Rage 128 or better graphics acceleration with at least 16MB VRAM.
Medal of Honor: Spearhead will cost US$29.95 when it's released. Aspyr is now taking preorders and anticipates shipping the expansion pack in May, according to Aspyr's own Game Status Web page.
