Still haven't made the switch to Mac OS X? After releasing Data Backup X at Macworld Expo earlier this month, Prosoft Engineering has released Data Backup Classic, aimed at users with Mac OS 8.6 to Mac OS 9.

Data Backup Classic offers the same features as Data Backup X. The software enables you to backup and restore data from your hard drive, scheduling regular backups using a Programmed Actions Mode. You can backup or restore from any mounted volume, ATA, SCSI, FireWire, USB or networked. Data Backup can do incremental backups, and will automatically launch other applications or scripts with a post processing feature.
An automatic backup feature is available as well -- now available for Data Backup X in a 1.0.1 update downloadable from Prosoft's Web site -- that automatically initiates a backup when the backup drive is mounted.
Data Backup Classic is available for online purchase from Prosoft's Web site for US$49. Evaluation versions are also available for download.
