Video pros already use Zaxwerks' 3D Invigorator plug-in for Adobe After Effects. Now, Zaxwerks is introducing Invigorator ProAnimator -- a standalone application designed for 3D title and logo animations. MacCentral recently spoke with Zaxwerks' Zax Dow to find out more.

Zaxwerks calls Invigorator ProAnimator "a complete rethink" of the way animations are made on the computer. Using what the company calls "Object Flow," Invigorator ProAnimator makes it easier for artists to create working 3D animations than they can with products like After Effects.

Dow explained that Zaxwerk's AE software is already used by all major television broadcasters in the US. "If you watch ten minutes of TV a day, you've seen graphics created using our products," he told MacCentral. "And if you watched the Super Bowl, you saw our graphics about every ten seconds."

With Invigorator ProAnimator you can splice, arrange and trip 3D animations after you've created them, and you can also add, delete, rearrange, lengthen, shorten and duplicate clips as you need to. The 3D objects you've included with your clips will automatically be adjusted to handle the changes. You can configure any Pose Transition, or the Animation Event Chain in its entirety as a custom preset, as well.

Invigorator ProAnimator supports importing 3D objects from other popular apps like Maya, 3D Studio, Lightwave, SoftImage and more. Movies are rendered -- with their alpha channels -- in QuickTime format, making them an easy asset for Avid Xpress DV, Final Cut Pro from Apple, Premier and other video editing or compositing apps that use QuickTime.

Invigorator ProAnimator is expected for release in February 2002, first for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, with a Windows version to follow later. The software will cost US$895, but if you're at NY DV Show today or tomorrow, you can pre order it for $795.
