Aspyr to bring Clive Barker's Undying to Mac

Mac game publisher Aspyr Media has announced plans to bring a conversion of Clive Barker's Undying to the Mac. Published for the PC by Electronic Arts, the first person 3D action game's creative development was overseen by popular author Clive Barker, long known for his macabre books and motion pictures.

The game is set in Ireland in the 1920's. You assume the role of Patrick Galloway, a man who must unravel a curse visited upon a once-noble aristocratic family who has dabbled in the black arts. The estate's lone living descendant, Jeremiah, is besieged by attacks from his four siblings, back from the grave and intent on killing him to free the Undying King. Galloway will have to square off against each of the undead siblings and the legions of strange and terrifying creatures that have been called to their bidding. That's not all -- Galloway will also have to go head to head with his competitor Kiesinger.

Undying

Galloway himself can be armed with an arsenal of weapons both mechanical and supernatural, ranging from revolvers and shotguns to Tibetan War Cannons and the mystical Scythe of the Celt. Galloway isn't totally defenseless against the magical elements of this strange place, either -- he can invoke a variety of different spells as well.

System requirements for Undying are not yet available, but Aspyr plans to offer preliminary requirement info when they begin accepting pre-orders for the game next week. As you might expect from the subject matter, this game is rated M by the ESRB, for Mature.

The game is presently in the early stages of development, and, as you'd expect from an Aspyr Media title, it's being handled by the crew at Mac game conversion studio Westlake Interactive. Aspyr is shooting to have the game in beta by the time Macworld Expo rolls around next month.

More info about Undying is available from the official Undying Web site hosted by Electronic Arts.
