Casady & Greene today announced the release of a new update to its popular grammar checker, Grammarian 2. The new version, 2.1.4, is a free update for version 2 users and sports a variety of improvements.

Grammarian works hand in hand with any program on your Mac, even those with built-in grammar checkers. It reads through your text and analyzes each sentence for potential grammar problems. The software provides more than five times the grammar checking capabilities as Microsoft Word, according to Casady & Greene.

Version 2.1.4 includes:

  • Improved support for Adobe Illustrator 8 and 9, FrameMaker 5, and BBEdit 6.1.2.
  • A new engine which greatly improves the software's grammar checking capabilities, according to the developer.
  • Improved easy of use when switching from Mac OS 9 and the Classic layer of Mac OS X.
  • Grammarian 2 is available for purchase for US$49.95. Users of version 1 can upgrade for $19.95. Grammarian 2 only supports Mac OS 8.1 - 9.x; the company also makes Grammarian X, which works natively in Mac OS X. Visit the Web site for more details.
