Mac OS X is among the finalists in the 18th annual Technical Excellence Awards presented by PC Magazine .

The awards will honor the most innovative products and technologies in 2001. The magazine's editorial staff, senior contributors and PC Magazine Lab analysts chose 25 products in nine categories. Mac OS X is nominated for the Desktop Software award, competing against Windows XP and Groove from Groove Networks.

Winners will be announced in a special ceremony on Nov. 12, at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the Fall Comdex show. All winners will be posted on the Web and will be featured in the Dec. 26 issue of PC Magazine.
