CE Software Inc. has announced the release of a new public beta version of QuickMail 3.0, its e-mail software for Macs and PCs. The new Mac version features a Carbonized client and server designed to work on Mac OS X, new address book distributio, and various other changes. The new client is available for download now; the server is coming soon.

In addition to Mac OS X 10.1 support, the following changes have been made:

  • Changes made to messages in the Inbox can now be saved back into the Inbox.
  • Filed and sent messages can now be filed into the Inbox using drag and drop.
  • New "Show as Plain Text" menu item allows the user to view formatted text as plain text for easier reading.

  • Pre-orders for the new QuickMail Pro 3.0 client are available directly from CE Software starting at $7 per user from version 2.x. New copies of the software are available at a suggested retail price of US$39.95. Pre-orders of the QuickMail Office 3.0 upgrade are available starting at $8 per user from version 2.x.
