NEC LCD1550m
NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display has introduced two new 15-inch thin-frame flat panel monitors today -- the LCD1550M and LCD1550X. The company said that it has developed the displays to appeal to corporate and mainstream users alike.

The LCD1550M is priced at US$499, and the LCD1550X is priced at $549. Both systems feature a thin frame that measures less than 20 mm on both sides of the monitor screen. They also sport native 1024x768 pixel resolution, a weight of about 9.9 lbs, and LiquidView software, along with "No Touch Auto Adjust," which NEC-Mitsubishi said provides optimal display settings upon initial powerup.

The LCD1550M incorporates front-firing speakers, and it measures 6.4-inches deep with the stand. The display's backlight measures at 300 cd/m2, and it attaches to a Mac or a PC using a conventional analog VGA connector.

NEC LCD1550x
The LCD1550X sports support for DVI-I instead, making it possible to connect digitally to a Mac using a DVI-equipped video card or an ADC-to-DVI adapter cable, available separately.

The LCD1550X also supports a second analog VGA connector, and features XtraView+, which provides a viewing angle of up to 170 degrees both horizontally and vertically (85 degrees from the center of the monitor). It also pivots into landscape and portrait modes. The LCD1550X's brightness measures in at 250 cd/m2. It measures about 7.9-inches deep on its stand.

Look for the new LCD displays to be available in December through NEC-Mitsubishi authorized dealers. The monitors are available in both black and white cabinet options. Optional touch and protective glass integration is available, and both monitors carry a three-year limited warranty which also covers the backlight. Tech support is available 24/7.
