Apple and Corel are having a celebration. With the news earlier today that CorelDRAW 10 and Photo-Paint 10 are being offered as standalone products and the availability of KnockOut 2 for OS X, Corel is now shipping more OS X graphics products than any other major software vendor.

"Mac OS X is an evolution in Apple computing. Apple's consistent performance and dominance in the professional creative market offers exciting business opportunities for our graphics applications. We've responded by introducing procreate specifically to serve these professional customers," said Ian LeGrow, executive vice-president of creative products at Corel. "Our applications running on this new operating system provide customers with a unique environment for unleashing their creative power."

The news of Corel's support for Mac OS X is certainly good for Apple. Apple's new operating system needs high-end applications in the business space (i.e. Office v. X) and the graphics market -- the latter being a traditionally good market for Apple.

Corel's line of native OS X products now include Bryce 5, Corel Graphics Suite 10 for Macintosh, CorelDRAW 10 for Macintosh, Corel Photo-Paint 10 for Macintosh and the procreate line of creative enhancement tools -- Painter 7, KPT effects and KnockOut 2.

"Corel has demonstrated its commitment to Apple's customers and is leading the wave of development for the Mac by delivering seven outstanding offerings for Mac OS X," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "With the introduction of procreate and Corel's aggressive development of high performance graphics applications, the company is taking full advantage of the capabilities and opportunity inherent to Mac OS X."
