Wind River Systems, a provider of software and services for connected "smart" devices, today awarded its "Cool Customer Design" to Apple for its AirPort wireless networking solution for the school, home, and office.

The solution includes the AirPort Base Station, which includes Wind River's Tornado for Home Gateways (THG) integrated development platform technology and WindNet RADIUS user access control software.

Wind River's THG software platform helped Apple boost the networking performance of the AirPort Base Station and add new features such as RADIUS, which enables schools and businesses to centrally manage user access control, according to Dave Fraser, group vice president and general manager of Wind River's Networks business unit.
