Macromedia has offered a major new version of their Authorware Web Player -- version 6.0. The software enables users to view Authorware-developed applications online through their Web browser.
Macromedia bills Authorware as a "rich-media authoring solution for e-learning." The software makes it possible for users to develop and electronically publish Web-based tutorials, simulations and more using a wide array of multimedia tools including Macromedia's own Shockwave, Apple's QuickTime, MP3 audio files and much more.
Although Authorware's authoring environment has been developed for Windows-based PCs, the Authorware Web Player enables Mac users to view the content online themselves, without needing a PC. The new version adds support for features introduced with Authorware 6. For more details, visit the Macromedia Web site.
