Chaotic Software has released a new product and updated one of their popular utilities.
The new product is Clipboard Manager 1.0, which supports multiple clipboards and more on Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. It's a Control Strip module for Macs running Mac OS 9 and a Dockling for Mac OS X (10.1 or later required). Clipboard Manager, a US$20 shareware product, allows you to create multiple clipboards, switch between clipboards on-the-fly, and provide persistent clipboards across reboots. For more info or to download Clipboard Manager go to the product Web site.
Chaotic Software has also updated MP3 Rage, a collection of tools for MP3 enthusiasts to version 3.9.3, which adds several improvements and bug fixes, according to company spokesperson Jason Giles.
MP3 Rage lets you search for and download MP3s from the Internet, edit ID3 tags, analyze MP3s and adjust their sound volume automatically to play at similar levels, export MP3 files to AIFF format for burning CDs, play MP3 files, catalog, organize, rename, find and change thousands of MP3 files and their ID3 tags "quickly and painlessly," he added.
Version 3.9.3 adds a feature to create ID3 tags based on the folder structure of your MP3 collection (e.g., get album from enclosing folder, get artist from that folder's enclosing folder, etc.). It's fully configurable so it works with virtually any arrangement of folders, Giles said. There's also a new feature to copy a tag's text fields in the QuickEdit window at once so you can easily paste into another file, he added.
With MP3 Rage 3.9.3, you can set the total tracks field of the tag based on the number of files of its enclosing folder. With the Tag Changer, you can now reverse the byte-order of Unicode text in ID3 tags to fix problems with Unicode generated by some applications being in the wrong byte order. There's also improved support for displaying and storing Unicode text in ID3 tags and the ability to preserve Unicode when changing tags if they were Unicode before changing them, Giles said.
MP3 Rage is a $24.95 shareware product. For more info go to the product Web site.
