Mac OS X converts looking for some old-style fun may want to turn their attention to Mac software publisher Casady & Greene. The company has announced plans to support Mac OS X with new versions of classic games from their library, and already has some goods you can try out.
Casady & Greene has released a carbonized and updated version of Zone Warrior II, a 3D space flight simulator in which you must defend your space station from attack. The game sports over 100 levels. Zone Warrior II for OS X is available for purchase and download from Casady & Greene's Web site. (It costs US$14.95.)
Casady & Greene also plans to carbonize and update three more of their classic gaming titles -- Glider Pro, Step On It! and Crystal Crazy will all be released for Mac OS X in the coming months. In fact, time-limited beta versions of Glider Pro and Step On It! for Mac OS X are already available for download. Crystal Crazy for Mac OS X will be available at a later date.
Glider Pro is the classic game in which you must navigate a paper airplane glider throughout obstacle-ridden locations, ranging from an art museum to the Titanic. Step On It! traps you in a toy-filled world where you must locate the key to the door to escape each level. Crystal Crazy is a fast-paced action game in which you must collect crystals, smash ornaments and perform other tasks to win.
