Mac (and now PC) game publisher Aspyr Media has updated the status of several projects in development at the company in the latest edition of its electronic newsletter, sent monthly to subscribers.
Aspyr indicated that its Mac conversion of EA's hit game SimCity 4 is now at Final Candidate status -- the final development milestone before a game is declared Gold Master and sent to duplication. The game is expected to hit store shelves this month, and will require Mac OS X 10.2 or later. Its conversion has been handled by i5works, the same developer behind Ghost Recon.
Also at Final Candidate status is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, both for Mac and PC. The game allows you to skate against other PC and Mac gamers (Mac-to-Mac via GameRanger and Mac-to-PC via direct IP addresses. A demo's coming in the next couple of weeks.
Aspyr also offered details on several other games in development, like Zoo Tycoon. Aspyr said that both a trailer and a demo version of Zoo Tycoon will be released "in the next few weeks." Also come are Mac and PC demos and trailers of Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, an extreme sports game from the same company that brought the world the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series.
Next week retailers will see copies of NASCAR Racing 2003 Season hit store shelves, but if you can't wait to get your hands on it between now and then, a playable demo is also available.
Also in duplication and expected to ship "in a few weeks" is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 -- a golf simulation game featuring 12 different PGA Tour courses and PGA Tour pro golfers including, of course, Tiger Woods. Commentary is provided by David Feherty and Bill Macatee. A demo for this game is also coming.
