BenQ America Corp. has introduced a variety of new projectors and a new 15-inch LCD TV.

The BenQ PB7220 digital projector provides XGA (1024 x 768 pixel) resolution, and is HDTV-compatible with direct YPbPr/component, S-Video, and composite video inputs, as well as an RS232 control port and two personal computer inputs. Due next month at a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$5,495, the projector has a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 2,500 ANSI lumens.

The 5.6-pound BenQ PB7220 digital projector can support 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. It can deliver resolutions from 640 x 350 to 1280 x 1024 and "throw" images of 300 inches.

The new 6.9-pound BenQ PB8230 is HDTV-compatible with direct YPbPr/component, S-Video and composite video inputs. With a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 2,500 ANSI lumens, the digital projector provides true XGA resolution. It can support 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios with a native resolution of 1024 x 768 and up to 1280 x 1024. And it's compatible with NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and NTSC 4.43 systems. It's due later this month for $4,995.

The company is also offering the $2,995 BenQ PB2220 projector and the $2,195 BenQ PB2120 digital projector. With a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 1,700 ANSI lumens and 85 percent uniformity, the BenQ PB2220 can support 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios with a native resolution of 1024 x 768. It can handle resolutions from 640 x 350 to 1280 x 1024 and has the ability to throw images of 60-inches at 6.6 feet.

The BenQ PB2120 has a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 1,200 ANSI lumens. As an SVGA digital projector, the BenQ PB2120 has a native resolution of 800 x 600 and can support resolutions from 640 x 350 up to 1280 x 1024. Both are due next month and will be HDTV-compatible with direct YPbPr/component, S-Video, and composite video inputs.

Finally, there are the BenQ PB8120 and BenQ PB8220 projectors, both of which are available now.

With a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 2,200 ANSI lumens and 85 percent uniformity, the $5,995 BenQ PB8220 Digital Projector provides true XGA resolution and can support 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios with a native resolution of 1024 x 768. It supports resolutions from 640 x 350 to 1280 x 1024 and can throw an image of 60 inches at 6.6 feet.

The $3,995 BenQ's PB8120 delivers SVGA resolution with a 2000:1 contrast ratio at 1,800 ANSI lumens with 85 percent uniformity. It can support 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios with a native resolution of 800 x 600. The projector has the ability to throw an image of 48 inches at 6.6 feet with its wide-angle lens. Both the PB8120 and the PB8220 are HDTV-compatible with direct YPbPr/component, S-Video, and composite video inputs.

All the projectors utilize BenQ's proprietary Dynamic Color Management System (DCMS), a 16.7-million color palette, and four-segment color wheel. They also feature PIP/POP functions and a Digital Keystone correction system.

LCD TV

BenQ America has also rolled out a new LCD TV, the BenQ Q150, a 15-inch, HDTV compatible system that features a built-in TV tuner, built-in subwoofer, and an optional wireless kit. It boasts a 4:3 aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 500:1, and a brightness of 450 nit. The BenQ Q150 LCD TV can be used as a computer monitor or with a DVD player.

The LCD TV, due later this month for $995, can support a 4:3 aspect ratio with a native resolution of 1024 x 768. It's compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM video applications and has a pixel pitch of 0.297 mm. The Q150 has D-Sub, PC Audio, TV Tuner (RF connector), component, composite, and S-Video signal inputs. Other features include a sleep time, "freeze" function, and backlight adjustment controls. The optional wireless kit is available for $199.
