Musicians, take note. Mackie Designs Inc. has released UAD-1 version 3.1. The company has also announced the availability of a new Powered Plug-In, Cambridge EQ.

UAD-1 version 3.1 enables multi-card support on the Mac, as well as compatibility for the Cambridge EQ on both Mac and Windows systems. The multi-card support lets Mac users add up to four UAD-1 cards in a single system. This support is currently available only for Mac OS 9 and earlier; Mac OS X support is planned for later this year.

UAD-1 version 3.1 is a free download for registered UAD-1 owners; it's available via the Universal Audio Web site or the Mackie site. Cambridge EQ -- a five-band, fully parametric EQ featuring high and low cuts -- is available from Mackie for US$149.
