Deneba Inc. is now taking pre-orders from existing users for Canvas 9, the upcoming version of the integrated application for drawing, image editing, document design, presentations, and Web graphics design.

If you're a registered user of Canvas, you can order the upcoming version before June 30 and you'll get ACDSee for Mac for free. ACDSee is an image browser and viewer that enables users to organize files in more than 40 different formats. Canvas 9 will be offered in three editions:

  • The US$399.95 Professional Edition, which includes all the new technical illustration, image editing, publishing, Web graphics, and presentation features that are common to all editions (we'll have more details later this month). Targeted to technical professionals in business, science, and engineering, the pro version features a new AI inspired user interface and over 100 new features and enhancements.
  • A $599.95 GIS Mapping Edition, which adds native support for Geographic Information System (GIS) data.You can choose from 150 projections, take measurements in geographic coordinates, and import industry standard SHAPE and GeoTIFF files into unlimited numbers of automatically aligned overlapping layers.
  • The $599.95 Scientific Imaging Edition, which includes support for 8/16/FP32 real depth images, over a dozen Image-J and NIH image compliant filters, an open image API (application programming interface), direct access to the numeric image data, and support for industry standard DICOM format files.
  • Canvas 9 (all versions) is being released simultaneously on Mac OS X (10.2 or higher) and Windows (NT/2000/XP or above). All three editions are due to ship on June 30. There are a number of upgrade choices available depending on your current registered version of Canvas.

    To upgrade from Canvas 8 to Canvas 9 Professional costs $129.95; upgrading from version 7 is $169.96 and from versions 3.5, 5 or 6 is $199.95. Upgraders can adds GIS mapping features to their upgrade for $100 and add scientific imaging features for an additional $100.
