The Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) celebrates its third birthday today at its regular monthly meeting at the LA Film School.
Launched in 2000 with approximately 36 members, the group now has 2,700 members worldwide. Lafcpug is the largest user group dedicated to Final Cut Pro.
Andrew Baum of Pinnacle is dropping by for the birthday party. He'll be showcasing the new Cinewave 4 for Mac OS X 10.2 ("Jaguar"). Tim Wilson will show off Boris Red 3GL, an integrated 3D compositing, titling, and effects application built to implement OpenGL; Steve Martin (the FCP guru, not the actor-comedian) will demo Final Cut Pro 4 RT Extreme (the FCP 4 engine that produces a number of video streams and effects). Promax will display their FCP Guru table, while Panasonic will spotlight the new SDX900 DVCPRO Camera and the AJ-SD930 DVCPRO 50 Deck running under Final Cut Pro 4.
There will also be a show and tell session, a "Stump the Gurus" contest, and a raffle. For details and directions go to the lafcpug Web site.
