Tribeworks on Wednesday announced a dramatic pricing realignment for its flagship product, iShell. iShell 3 for Mac OS X is now available for US$495. what's more, the "renewal rate" previous required has been ended all together.
iShell is a rich-media authoring tool designed to create Internet applications, CD-ROM based products and Internet kiosks. It features an object-oriented authoring environment, the ability to deploy to multiple platforms, support for QuickTime, MP3, Flash and other media types, and much more. The software was previously available for $975 and carried an annual renewal rate of $750.
Tribeworks CEO Duncan Kennedy explained that the price cuts have been made to help alike Tribeworks with its competitors. "iShell has always been dramatically easier to use than competitive products, and now it's much easier to buy."
Tribeworks has also cut the cost of its service and support packages. Silver Membership was previously $975 per year and is now $875 per year; Gold Membership once cost $2,995 and now costs $2,750. The support packages provide access to software updates, technical support, discounts on third-party products and other incentives.
