Prosoft Engineering has added a "data shredder" with three levels of security to version 1.2 of Data Recycler X, the undelete utility for Mac OS X. Also included in the update is a search feature that's designed to simplify the recovery of accidentally deleted files.

The new shredder's three levels of security -- Clear, Sanitize, and Maximum -- are controlled by the user . The data shredder icon resides on your desktop.

Data Recycler X 1.2 lets you search through a deleted file list based on name, date, and size to find specific files. The update also adds a resizable main window, RAID volume support, and enhanced deleted file capture. The application captures files that were emptied from the Trash, overwritten by applications with the "Save As" command, and can protect files deleted from software as iPhoto.

Version 1.2 is a free update for registered users of version 1.x. For new users, the cost is US$49.
