Media 100 Inc. reported US$5.1 million in net sales for its second quarter ending May 31; this compares with $6.6 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2002.

Net sales for the second quarter increased compared to the $4.8 million level reported in the first quarter of fiscal 2003, marking Media 100's second consecutive quarter of revenue growth. However, on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis, the company reported a net loss of $1.3 million, or $0.10 per share, in the second quarter versus a net loss of $3.7 million, or $0.29 per share, in the second quarter of 2002. Results for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 include a one-time restructuring charge of approximately $214,000.

Media 100 says the highlight of the recent financial quarter was the 34 percent increase in 844/X end-user units over the first quarter of fiscal 2003. The 844/X line is a series editing systems for compositing of unlimited layers. Though the system comes on Wintel hardware, it offers Mac application integration.

However, the company also makes such Mac savvy products as the Media 100i digital video solutions for the Mac OS X for advanced editing and content design. Media 100 also makes Final Effects Complete, a set of over 100 software plug-in filters and transitions for Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Boris RED, and Boris FX.
