United Developers LLC subsidiary MacPlay has announced that it's shipping Another War.
Another War is a role playing game (RPG) that eschews the familiar medieval fantasy genre for a more gritty modern experience: Players find themselves in the role of an adventurer caught behind the lines of Nazi-occupied France during World War II. Eventually players find themselves in Leningrad, where they discover a secret project that could influence the outcome of the war.
Featuring 2D graphics rendered from an isometric perspective, Another War is likened to classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Fallout. The game features active lighting, smoke, explosions, flames and atmospheric graphics effects, as well as surround sound.
Another War is the latest Mac game conversion from Virtual Programming Ltd., a UK-based Mac game publisher and developer that has previously released titles including Legion (distributed in the US by Freeverse), Payback, KickOff 2002 and Wipeout 2097. This is the second collaboration between Virtual Programming and MacPlay -- the companies recently announced the delivery Europa Universalis II, a strategy game.
System requirements for Another War call for a G3/350MHz or faster, 128MB RAM, QuickTime 5 or higher; Mac OS X 10.1 or higher or Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2, 200MB free hard disk space. Another War's suggested retail price is US$29.99.
