Apple, Music 2 Hues, and the Digital Video Professionals Association are cooperating to offer Mac User Group (MUG) members free sound effects CDs and free stock video collections when they sign up for a one-year membership in the DVPA.
The DVPA is the world's largest organization for users of DV technology. Music 2 Hues is a source for music and sound effects libraries. MUG members who sign up for any of the DVPA Membership Plans will receive four Sound Effects CDs from Music 2 Hues that contain over 400 sound effects that be used, royalty free, in any production.
If MUG members sign up for the All Access DVPA membership (which is US$249 per year), they'll also receive the DVPA Stock Video Footage Collection Vol.1 (worth over $1,000) of full resolution video clips. The collection includes work from EyeWire, ArtBeats, Dynamic Graphics, Corbis Images, EyeIdea, and Digital Juice. You can import the clips into video editing applications such as iMovie, Final Cut Express, and Final Cut Pro.
Sign up for a $449 Two-Year All Access DVPA membership, and you'll get the DVPA Stock Video Footage Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (worth over $2,000) of full resolution video clips. This collection contains all the clips from Volume 1, plus 23 more royalty-free video and animation clips.
"This limited time offer is really a celebration of the release of Final Cut Pro 4 and the upcoming release of Apple's Pro-level G5 machines," said Rod Harlan, executive director of the DVPA.
For details and to see sample files of all of the video clips, go to the special offer Web site. MUGs are good places for making new friends, finding Mac-loving buddies, boning up your technical expertise, finding solutions to technical problems, and sometimes finding a good deal on used hardware. For more info on MUGs, and to find the location of the one nearest you, go to Apple's User Group Web page.
