Profound Effects has updated Useful Things, the plug-in suite for Adobe After Effects, to version 1.5.

Useful Things comes with over 130 effects that create motion graphics; camera POVs; targeting effects; HUDS; control panels; alien and robotic POVs; on-set display graphics; meters and gauges; type-on and write-on text effects; particle effects; rolls, crawls, and lower thirds; sub-titles; audio-based effects; and other visual elements.

New features in version 1.5 include a redesigned user interface that provides workflow improvements for setting up effects and adjusting parameters, Type 1 and OpenType font format support, and a script installer for installing scripts from the Profound eXchange (the online community for registered users of Profound Effects products) or other users. There are also some scripts that provide new effects capabilities.

Useful Things 1.5 requires Mac OS X 10.2 ("Jaguar") or higher and Adobe After Effects 5.5 or higher. The price is US$395; registered users can upgrade to the new version for free.
