System Folder Search

{"In my July Mac 911 column I mention that when you use the Finder's Find command to search your drive, you'll discover that, by default, it won't turn up items stored in the System folder. I suggested using Sebastian Krauss' fine and free "," -- a GUI for the Unix Locate command -- to search this folder because its both fast and thorough. Reader Ronald Lanham offers this alternate solution:

Open the Find window, open your OS X startup volume, and drag the System folder into the Find window. Although Find won't dig down into the System folder when it's simply part of a volume, it will when you've added it to the Find window. "}
