{"Reader Paul E. Kent (not the Paul Kent of "," fame) would like to back up his Library folder and I'm here to help. He writes:

In Jaguar you can do this with Disk Copy. Launch this fine utility and select New from the File menu and then Image From Folder or Volume from the submenu. Navigate to the Library folder within your users folder and click the Image button. In the resulting Disk Copy dialog box name your file, choose Compressed from the Image Format pop-up menu, and click Save. In a while, you'll have a compressed .dmg file that contains your Library.

This same capability is built into Panther's Disk Utility, though the menus have been rearranged. Launch Disk Utility and, from the Images menu, select New and then Image From Folder from the submenu. From then on everything is pretty much the same as with the procedure described above. The one exception is that under Panther, you're prompted for your administrator's password."}
