Radio Daze Part Deux

{"The other day, we talked about creating timed recordings of radio broadcasts with your Macintosh. Reader Naomi Pearce has since called my attention to a remarkable AppleScript project that every Internet radio enthusiast should explore.

That utility is Oleg Kibirev's free ",". This cool tool allows you to create timed recordings of Shoutcast and Icecast-compatible Internet radio broadcasts (and yes, the radio stations included with iTunes fit the bill). Broadcasts are saved in playlists within iTunes in mp3 format at their broadcast bitrate (for example, if they're broadcast at 128kbps, that's how they're saved).

RadioRecorder includes a scheduling feature and allows you to limit the number of recordings it creates before replacing songs in a playlist with new ones (a nice feature for holding down the size of a playlist while refreshing your music collection).

If you'd like the opportunity to record your favorite streams for later listening on your iPod, this one's worth a serious look. "}
