There's no better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mac than a visit to Folklore.org, a site created by original Mac team member Andy Hertzfeld to create a sort of "oral history" of the creation of the Mac from various perspectives.

There are already 70 stories posted, and they're fascinating. Marvel at Bud Tribble likening Steve Jobs' unique brand of marketing prowess to a Star Trek forcefield! Thrill as Steve Jobs make an obscene and prescient comment to Adam Osborne! Chuckle as you discover Bill Gates' shameful past as a lousy game programmer!

Even better, the software that runs Folklore.org is going to be made available for free, so that anyone can create a group history for a particular topic. It's a smart use of Web technology and has some really fun implications. Just reading a few items from the original Mac team members makes that abundantly clear.
