Say Cheese! Snapz Pro X 2 Arrives

Snapz Pro X 2.0 was announced today, and that's a very good thing.

I realize this is a bit of inside baseball, but we here at Macworld take a whole mess o' screen shots. And, to be blunt, Apple's built-in Command-Shift-3 and Command-Shift-4 approaches just don't work if you're taking a lot of screen shots for publication in a book or magazine. Snapz Pro has always been a great tool for professionals who need to take screen shots.

But Snapz Pro X 2 does it even better, especially when it comes to capturing QuickTime movies. For the first issue of Mac Developer Journal I had to rig up a ridiculous system involving a camcorder, audio splitter, and cassette tape player, external microphone in order to record a video interview I did on iChat with my co-editor on that project, Derrick Story of OReilly's MacDevCenter.

For the forthcoming second issue of Mac Developer Journal , I interviewed Brent Simmons of Ranchero Software via iChat AV and recorded that interview using Snapz Pro X 2. It worked flawlessly, capturing a really attractive QuickTime movie of the interview without any real fuss at all. Let the surreptitious recording of iChat video chats begin!

Congratulations to Andrew Welch and everyone else at Ambrosia Software on the release.
