'Alida' game ships in North America

Got Game Entertainment announced Tuesday the release of Alida to the North American market. Alida is a Myst-like 3D graphical adventure game that brings players to a deserted island theme park shaped like a giant guitar. Created by a successful but now-defunct rock band, the island holds the secret to what's happened to a missing band member, Arin, and it's up to you to uncover clues, solve puzzles and discover what's happened to him.

Alida is the work of a single developer -- Australian artist and musician, Cos Russo. The game was first released in limited distribution in 2003, but this is the first time Alida has been released to the North American market in any coordinated way. It's been rated "E" for Everyone by the ESRB and is available for US$39.99. The Mac version is available now; a PC release is expected this July. System requirements were not available as MacCentral posted this article.
