New Hardware in the Spotlight

A month ago, Apple bumped up the processor speed and cut the price on its entry-level iBook, made AirPort Extreme wireless networking standard on the consumer laptops, and added a SuperDrive to the top-of-the-line configuration. The computer maker also unveiled a new single-processor Power Mac G5. How do these additions measure up? In his Macworld review, Henry Norr says the 12-inch 1.2GHz iBook G4 is a better value than ever because of its $999 price tag and AirPort Extreme capabilities. Meanwhile, the 1.8GHz Power Mac G5 may be a good option for bargain hunters, but Mac users demanding more processing punch may wish to take a pass.
