Osaka, Japan-based Recosoft Corp. on Thursday released PDF2Office 2.0 Professional Edition, a new version of its PDF document conversion software. PDF2Office converts Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files into documents that can be edited by Microsoft Word, AppleWorks, and applications that support Rich Text Format (RTF) or Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). PDF2Office v2.0 Professional Edition costs US$129, or $59 to upgrade from the 1.1 release.
Changes in the 2.0 version include the ability to open files directly in Word, support for Adobe Acrobat 6-generated PDFs, enhanced conversion and layout reconstruction, conversion of graphics to native types of each word processor, image resolution and compression support, and more. Recosoft counts more than 150 enhancements and changes in this new release. Customers who purchased v1.1 on or after October 21, 2004 are entitled to a free upgrade. System requirements call for a G3/300MHz or faster and Mac OS X v10.2.8 and higher. A trial version is available for download.
