Lincoln, Calif.-based Diskology Inc. on Thursday announced a new “Forensic Kit” version of their Disk Jockey, a portable hard disk drive duplication that works on Macs and Windows PCs, or as a standalone device. The new US$429 forensic kit includes a “write blocking” feature that assures users that the data on one drive won’t be written to — a key feature for disk recovery specialists, police and others who might need forensic data recovery capabilities.
The Disk Jockey mounts IDE hard disk drives using USB or FireWire. In addition to disk duplication, it can mirror, span, copy, compare, test and erase hard drives using one-pass or three-pass erase methods, as per the National Security Administration (NSA) guidelines, according to the company.
The forensic kit also includes a Serial ATA (SATA) adapters and extended 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard disk drive cables. The “Standard” Disk Jockey remains available for $349.
