Fremont, Calif.-based Digital Praise Inc. has announced Dance Praise, a Christian-themed Dance Dance Revolution-style arcade dancing game for Mac and PC. The game costs US$49.99, and comes bundled with a USB dance mat that’s Mac and PC-compatible, as well.
Dance Dance Revolution is a rhythm-based dancing game from Japan that’s spawned countless sequels and has inspired many imitators like this one. In this style of game, players tap out moves on a dance pad timed with on-screen arrows showing them where to step.
Digital Praise takes the concept to Christian families with Dance Praise, which combines contemporary Christian dance music like Audio Adrenaline, DJ Maj, Steven Curtis Chapman, ZOEGirl and others — more than 50 songs, all together — with four gaming modes.
Players get scored on their performance in Dance Mode, or complete on-screen challenges in the Arcade Mode. Exercise Mode will show you total time danced and number of calories burned, helping you with a cardiovascular workout, while ShadowDance Mode lets you choreograph steps in real time that a second dancer (with a second dance pad) must duplicate. Multiple speed and complexity levels add some challenge.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.0 or later, G3/400MHz or faster, 128MB RAM, 8x CD-ROM, 4MB VRAM, and an available USB port.
Digital Praise also offers additional standard and premium dance pads.
