Red Octane’s popular dance video game In The Groove is already available for PlayStation 2. In March, it’s coming to Mac OS X and Windows as well.
Arcade-style dance games have been popularized by Dance Dance Revolution and its ilk. In The Groove follows the same basic game play — users must step in time with arrows on the screen, which scroll in time with dance music.
In The Groove stepped up the gameplay with modifiers that make arrows spin, change speeds, boomerang and move in 3D, along with more than 60 other effects that create challenges and combinations for players to master.
The game features five difficulty levels and five play modes including a “battle mode” that lets you compete against the computer or another person and a “fitness mode” that tells you how many calories you’re burning off as you dance.
System requirements and pricing had not been announced as Macworld posted this article.
