NitroAV on Wednesday announced its Vanguard IIIs external data storage system. Using external Serial ATA (eSATA), the Vanguard IIIs provides up to 1000GB of storage capacity in two drive bays, with prices starting at $239.

The Vanguard IIIs features independently locking, hot-swappable drive trays equipped with status LEDs. The bays can hold 3.5-inch SATA drives. The chassis features hardware RAID capable of supporting RAID Level 0 and 1, and can rebuild itself in the event of a failure.

The Vanguard IIIs also features failure detectors that will advise you if the hard disks or fans stop operating or if the temperature gets too high.

NitroAV makes available eSATA PCI and CardBus adapters for Macs, Linux and Windows PCs, if your system is not already so equipped. What’s more, each Vanguard IIIs system includes a USB 2.0 interface for alternate connectivity.

The Vanguard IIIs is available in an enclosure kit configuration, or in 320GB, 500GB, 800GB and 1000GB capacities. A fully populated 1000GB system costs $1,149.95.
