IK Multimedia has partnered with Bass amp manufacturer Ampeg to develop a plug-in designed to give Mac users quality amp models, the companies said on Thursday.

The plug-in will be powered by the same technology that IK uses in its popular guitar amp application, AmpliTube. Users can choose over 20 bass gear emulations, including classic Ampeg bass amp models like the SVT Classic, B15W Portaflex “Flip Top,” BA500 and SVT4 PRO.

You can also select from Ampeg stomps like the SPC-OT Octaver or the SCP-OD Overdrive, or cabinets like the SVT410H or SVT810E.

Ampeg SVX is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2006, and sell for $399.
