Mobility Electronics Inc. on Thursday announced the release of its Magma 6 Slot PCI Express to PCI Expansion System. First introduced in March, the new chassis costs $1,999.

The device enables a PCI Express (PCIe)-equipped Mac or PC to support up to six PCI-based expansion cards using just one four-lane PCIe slot; helpful for users who need to support legacy expansion hardware.

The chassis connects to the PC or Mac using a pair of high-performance Infiniband cables, and can be fitted into a rack mount occupying 4U of vertical space. Multiple expansion systems can be used with a single computer.
