Faronics has released Power Save Mac, a utility that can help Macs used in enterprise environments to conserve energy more effectively than they can with Apple’s Energy Saver system preference alone.
Power Save Mac handles routine functions like logging off, restarting, shutting down and starting up on a one-time or repeating basis. It also features an inactivity monitor that can cause Macs to log out, shutdown or restart after a specified number of minutes.
Power Save Mac works with Apple Remote Desktop, so ARD administrators can deploy custom power-saving configurations over the network.
Power Save Mac costs $24.95 for a media package and $10 per workstation; volume pricing is also available. A 60-day evaluation version is available for free download.
