Aspyr Media has announced that its Mac conversion of The Sims 2: Open for Business has gone gold master and will be on store shelves starting early next week. The expansion pack requires The Sims 2 to play and costs $34.99.

The Sims 2 is the enormously popular game in which you create Sims — simulated people — and help them make friends, find work and decorate their homes. Expansion packs add new capabilities or new scenarios you can take your Sims to, and Open for Business lets your Sims open their own businesses.

They can choose clothing boutiques, beauty salons, electronics shops, restaurant chains and other businesses, hiring other Sims to help them make products or sell products — work that can be turned into cash. You can hire great employees and fire slackers, building a thriving empire along the way.

The Sims 2: Open for Business adds more than 125 new items to the game that your Sims can buy with the money they earn from their work.

Like other The Sims 2 titles, The Sims 2: Open for Business has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
