Napster announced Tuesday that customers who sign up for three months of the company's "Napster To Go" subscription music plan will receive a free Napster-branded 512MB flash-based MP3 player. What's more, their 1GB player is available for $50 to customers who sign up for the same agreement.
Napster's PC-only music service offers a two million song catalog -- less than Apple's iTunes Music Store -- but provides a subscription model that gives users access to songs as long as they continue paying a monthly fee.
The free 512MB player is a new model that is designed similarly to a 256MB Napster MP3 player previously offered. The 1GB model is the same one Napster introduced in June -- it features a color LCD screen, FM tuner, equalizer and support for Windows Media Audio (WMA) and MP3 audio files, as well as JPEG images and MPEG-4 videos.
