Sonnet Technologies on Tuesday announced Carapace, a line of silicone keyboard covers for Apple MacBook Pro, MacBook and PowerBook G4 laptops. They cost $19.95.

The flexible silicone cover is molded to fit around each key, and is washable. It also covers the spaces in between each key to help prevent crumbs, dirt and other debris from gunking up the keyboard. Additionally, the silicone material dampens the sound of the keys being struck.

Separate parts are available for the PowerBook G4 and MacBook Pro, and the MacBook — both cost $19.95, though the part for the MacBook Pro and PowerBook G4 is available now, while the Carapace for the MacBook will be available on Nov. 28, 2006.
