Picked by Techconnect's Editors on Thursday announced the version 5.1 release of its Salvage line of data recovery utilities for Mac OS X, including PodSalvage, CameraSalvage and OfficeSalvage. They cost $39.95 for download or $49.95 on CD.

Features of the Salvage utilities — all based on’s FileSalvage tool, but specialized for specific types of data recovery, include file preview, auto renamer, ability to work on some faulty hardware, write-protection on the target volume, free space search and more. A trial version is available for download that will let you see what data can be recovered before you purchase.

Version 5.1 features Universal binary support for native use on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. A new interface is used, and an auto file-renaming feature has been added.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.5 or later.
